Philippians 1:21 “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” This verse encapsulates Paul’s deep personal perspective on life and death as a Christian. To live means actively engaging in Christ’s work, embodying His teachings, and spreading the good news. Every aspect of our lives should be dedicated to serving Christ, actively seeking His face and His will for our lives, which is the source of true joy and purpose in Christ.

The latter part, “to die is gain,” reflects Paul’s belief that death is not the end but the beginning of a more glorious existence with Christ. For Paul, dying would mean being in the presence of Christ, which is far better than anything in this world. When we are with Jesus, that is when life truly begins.

Life in Christ is the most valuable pursuit, and death is not to be feared but embraced as a gateway to eternal life with God.
